This busy UES family of two attorney parents is looking for a family assistant to join their team! They’re seeking someone who can help set their family up for success while providing exceptional care for their 9-year-old daughter. They're looking for a loving, patient, active, organized mid-career nanny. If you love Taylor Swift dance parties as much as you love organizing a closet, this job is for you! The family spends summers in Bedford, New York and the family is happy to discuss how to make that work for you (live-in, live-out, or a mix of both, with a reduced schedule possible). The position will start at the start of the school year.
The family is looking for a mid-career nanny that has experience with children that are 9 to 10 years old (this is a must). Former teachers are also welcome to apply! They're looking for someone who is patient and kind and can assert boundaries when needed (i.e not giving in to the girl’s request for extra screen time). A nanny who is curious about learning and the world, and is comfortable assisting with homework, particularly in math is ideal. A person who takes initiative and is a self starter will be successful in this position! They're looking for a good mix of organization, self starting, and fun - somebody who can both connect with their daughter AND take charge of tasks around the house. Somebody who is comfortable helping her to do her homework and who can help her when needed will be great! Above all else, they're looking for somebody incredibly patient with her.
11 A.M. or 12 P.M. to 7 PM (nanny's choice!) for a 30 to 40 hours/week guarantee.
Girl, 9 years old: She is an intelligent, active only child who spends a lot of time with adults and receives a lot of love and attention from her family. (Her aunt and grandma even live in her apartment building!) She is a true tween who tests her boundaries at times while learning how to assert her independence. She is growing up and enjoys current pop culture including Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa AND she still taps into imaginative play (such as playing with American Girl dolls). She also adores reading (like Harry Potter) and technology (such as Minecraft and Roblocks). She is well traveled with her parents and is a foodie like they are! Though her palette is still more limited (these days she's all about pork chops and beef tacos and less about....vegetables).
As a family assistant, the role will include some errand running (grocery shopping, picking up birthday party supplies) as well as organizing (the girl’s seasonal and outgrown clothes, her bedroom, some kitchen organization). The family has a chef during the school year and will ask for meal prep only for the child! Sometimes in the summer, Dad may ask for a hand with dinner party prep (chopping vegetables, marinating meat). For the girl, typical nanny tasks will include cooking, laundry and tidying up after meals.
Someone who will not use time aside from their break time to check their phone as family has a strict no phones policy.
