This vibrant, active, and loving family is relocating from Palo Alto to NYC (TriBeCa). They’re looking for a warm, proactive and emotionally intelligent Family Assistant to join their team! Mom is a dynamic single parent raising two incredible kids. As a busy Executive, Mom is looking for a true partner-in-crime to help support their family and manage their day to day. If you’re the kind of person who can whip up dinner, juggle family errands and school pick-ups, and be a grounding presence for a big-hearted teen and preteen, this might be your dream job! The ideal start date is in August, but they’re happy to start earlier for the right fit. Mom is open to having a conversation with their current nanny to get to know the job!
This family thrives with someone who is confident, organized, even-keeled and deeply kind. A background in Education or Child Development is a huge plus. Someone supportive and affirming of the LGBTQIA+ community is a must. Someone organized and a great communicator is important - the family is very open and isn’t afraid to talk about anything with each other. Someone with strong emotional intelligence who will be a safe and open person will align well. They are also a humorous household - if you have a light-hearted side at times, you will fit right in! The family has pets (a Golden Retriever and two kittens), so they will be looking for someone comfortable with that. Mom is very involved in the children’s lives and activities; a nanny who has tag-teamed with parents before will thrive.
12:30 PM to 6:30 PM for 30 hours/week guaranteed
Non-binary (They/Them), 11 years old: They are a total spitfire with a fierce sense of justice. They are artistic, super smart, constantly coming up with business ideas, and will dive headfirst into creative projects, such as saying “I’m gonna write a novel” and then will write seven! They are full of energy and take boxing class. Boy, 13 year old: He is the peacemaker of the family! He is very kind, very supportive of his sibling, and a social butterfly. He loves soccer, dim sum and thrives with big groups of friends. Along with his sibling, he’s learning how to step into more responsibility at home, including helping with the pets and chores.
The day to day responsibilities will include school pick-ups, coordinating the logistics of extracurricular activities, and helping manage the family's schedule and routines. Providing homework support, performing light household tasks (such as laundry for the whole family and cooking Hello Fresh meals) and running occasional errands (grocery shopping and vet visits for the pets) will be part of the position. You will work closely and communicate with Mom and her assistant, jumping in with a team-player spirit. Occasionally, you may be asked to stay later in the evening or provide overnight coverage when mom is traveling - that will be compensated accordingly.
Someone who is very NYC and direction savvy is important, as the children aren’t familiar with NYC and will need support navigating their new home! Someone comfortable with dogs and cats is a must as well!
