Starting late April, this returning Upper East Side family is looking for a reliable, engaging, and proactive part-time sitter to join their team on Wednesdays and Friday afternoons, from 2:45 P.M. to 7:45 P.M. The family has an 8-year-old daughter who is very athletic and plays hockey, and they’re looking for someone who can support her after-school routine while keeping her active and socially engaged. While the family has other children, this position is focused on their 8-year-old. This is a great role for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children and takes initiative in planning activities. This family is hoping to move quickly so apply today before it's gone!

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

A professional and dependable individual with a calm and collected demeanor works very well for this family. You're a proactive sitter who enjoys working with active children. You take initiative in planning activities, coordinating playdates, and helping children build friendships. You are engaging and attentive, able to keep a child entertained and off screens, while also providing structure and encouragement when needed. You’re flexible and comfortable managing after-school routines independently. They've had the same sitter for the past year, who they really love, and they look forward to building another great connection soon.

Schedule

Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:45 P.M.–7:45 P.M. Ideal start date is the last week of April, so you can overlap with their current sitter!

About the Children

Girl, 8: She's a hockey player! She benefits from a sitter who can keep her engaged, and encourage her when needed.

Responsibilities

The day starts with school pick up and accompanying her to after-school activities, including hockey. You will coordinate transportation as needed, then return home for the evening. This family is looking for someone who can engage in activities, including arranging playdates or coordinating time with other caregivers and children. You'll support dinner (either preparing or picking up) and help with the evening routine.

Additional Information

We are looking for candidates who are: legally authorized to work in the U.S., have an up-to-date in-person CPR certification, can provide two references we can call and verify, and are comfortable with a family dog.
