This Hell’s Kitchen family is looking for an engaging, proactive, and experienced part-time sitter for their 2 year old daughter. They’re looking for someone who enjoys getting out of the house, planning activities, and creating a fun, enriching environment rooted in a Montessori-inspired approach.
You are energetic, thoughtful, and proactive, with experience in early childhood development or Montessori environments. You enjoy planning activities, creating structure, and bringing ideas to the table, whether that’s outings or simple at-home learning. You’re comfortable staying active throughout the day, encouraging independence, and adapting to a toddler’s evolving needs. You’re collaborative with parents and open to sharing ideas, including planning activities or supplies in advance.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 A.M.– 5:30 P.M. Occasional Thursdays, 8:30 A.M.– 3 P.M. Start date: By the end of April
2 year old, girl: Recently turned 2 and is very active, charismatic, and social. She loves being out and about, including trips to the park, museums, and the zoo. She thrives with movement and stimulation and benefits from a caregiver who keeps her engaged throughout the day. She is in a period of transition with starting a Montessori program and a nanny change. No allergies or medical needs, with mild eczema.
Spend the day actively engaging the child through outings, play, and developmentally appropriate activities. Plan and lead activities throughout the week, including coordinating simple “lesson plans” or ideas in collaboration with the parent. Take the child to parks, museums, and neighborhood activities, and manage stroller naps as needed. Support meals and snacks throughout the day, understanding typical toddler eating patterns. Maintain a tidy environment related to the child and ensure a smooth, structured day. The family has a small French bulldog (no care required). Grandparents are actively involved. The family follows a Montessori-inspired approach at home and would love someone familiar with or interested in that philosophy.
We are looking for candidates who are: legally authorized to work in the U.S., have an up-to-date in-person CPR certification, and can provide two references we can call and verify.
