PART-TIME SITTER: 4 month old boy in East Village (Lower Manhattan)

Overview

This East Village family is looking for a calm, experienced, and highly attentive part-time sitter for their 4-month-old son. This is a wonderful role for someone with experience caring for children around this age who enjoys engaging directly with them throughout the day and collaborating closely with parents.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

You are calm, attentive, and know how to engage a 4-month-old baby. You enjoy spending the day actively interacting with babies through play, conversation, movement, and developmentally appropriate activities. You are organized, communicative, and comfortable partnering closely with parents in a collaborative home environment. Experience with infant development or early childhood education is a plus. Candidates should also be highly conscientious about health, cleanliness, and illness precautions. They will require their sitter to be updated on TDAP, this year's Covid booster, and the Chicken Pox vaccine, and have proof of MMR as well!

Schedule

2–5 days per week, 4–5 hours per day **Please state which days you're available to support the family

About the Children

4 month old, boy: Happy, social, and highly engaged. He loves interaction, attention, and play, and is already hitting developmental milestones early. He enjoys being talked to and entertained throughout the day and thrives with attentive, responsive care. He is currently navigating normal infant sleep changes and contact nap transitions. No medical needs.

Responsibilities

Provide attentive infant care throughout the day, including feeding pumped breastmilk, soothing, naps, diapering, and developmentally appropriate play. Engage the baby actively throughout wake windows with minimal distractions and no screen use. Support healthy sleep routines and transitions to crib naps over time. Accompany the child on outdoor walks or activities while following family guidance around illness exposure and crowded indoor environments. Maintain open communication with parents and support a calm, organized environment throughout the day.

Additional Information

Mom frequently works from home in a separate room. Required vaccinations include TDAP (Tetanus), MMRV (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella), and current COVID booster and flu vaccinations, with documentation required. This is a screen-free and vegan household. The family also has a cat. All candidates will be required to submit: - I-9 documentation (legal ability to work in the US) - CPR/First Aid - Proof of vaccination for Covid+ booster/Tdap/Flu/MMR/Chicken Pox vaccinations
